Junior is an artist, interior designer and aspiring architect based in Bloemfontein who qualified with a Masters degree in Architecture at the University of the Free State in 2017.  His architectural background has inspired a central focus on the built environment which is expressed through an exploration of the boundaries between art and place-making. His artistic endeavours seek to create catalysts for improving living conditions in our cities - socially and domestically.

After completing his M.Arch.Prof at the University of the Free State, Junior found himself wanting to give back to the city that formed his interest in architecture, design and urban issues. Here he embarked on a hands-on urban research and investigation venture where he founded an inner-city rejuvenation initiative under the name Big Massive (Design Inc.). The creative agency mainly focussed on art and events where he liaised with property owners and stakeholders in Bloemfontein’s CBD to renovate old vacant inner-city buildings (of which Bloemfontein's CBD happens to have an abundance of). These spaces have been transformed into student centres, events spaces and art galleries in order to generate interest in Bloemfontein’s beautiful inner-city. This initiative reached a high point with the recently completed Public Arts Program that was managed on behalf of Oliewenhuis Art Museum and the Department of Sports Arts & Culture.
